CAM Coalition Partners Spotlight: Worldwide and Right At Home

From welcoming people to Israel no matter their national or religious background to expanding campaigns around North America and visiting the Holy See, the CAM coalition had an impressive and inspiring week of standing up for the Jewish people and the Jewish state.

Here is a sampling of what CAM partners were up to:

Spotlight

Tribe Tel Aviv: Immigrating to a new country is never easy. By bringing together expats in their 20’s and 30’s, Tribe TLV serves as a welcoming space for young Olim to tap into the best of what Israel has to offer, and connect with their Jewish roots to their new homeland. Learn more about Tribe Tel Aviv and their work in the CAM coalition!

Partner Achievements

JewBelong: The “pink billboard campaign” to call out antisemitism in the public space has arrived to Atlanta, Georgia. The Jewish community of the State of Georgia makes up 2% of the population, but experiences more than half of the hate crimes directed at religious minorities. The campaign has already reached New York, Boston, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Toronto.

​​The Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education (IMPACT-se): According to a recent report, even though most schools in the Middle East include antisemitic rhetoric and even incitement for violence against Jews in their textbooks, Saudi Arabia has almost completely removed all antisemitic content. This serves as a historic step forward to better interfaith relations and prevent the proliferation of Jew-hatred in Saudi Arabia.

Simon Wiesenthal Center: This past week, Pope Francis welcomed a delegation from the Center, which presented the Holy Father a document written by Hitler from 1919 that outlined his intent to murder the Jews of Europe, to the Vatican.

The Pope denounced antisemitism as it appears today and stated that he stands with the Jewish people against religious bigotry.

World Jewish Congress: On Wednesday June 30th, Jewish leaders from 48 different countries across the globe, including Egypt for the first time, gathered for the National Community Directors Forum in Budapest to discuss pressing issues they face in their respective countries and communities.

Conference of Presidents: CEO William Daroff writes from the perspective of an American Jew as a leading member in the American Jewish community, Daroff laments on the surprising rise in open hatred against Jews in the US the past 10 years, and emphasizes the need for governments to adopt and implement the IHRA working definition of antisemitism in order to stop the escalation of antisemitism in the US and around the world.

Jewish Institute for Liberal Values (JILV): In the aftermath of the Boston chapter of BDS releasing its “Mapping Project” that documented Jewish institutions like Hillels and synagogues, founder of David L. Bernstein sounds the alarm on “progressive antisemitism” as severely threatening to Jews in his op-ed piece.
