Rabbi Stuart Weinblatt

Rabbi Stuart Weinblatt is the rabbi of Congregation B’nai Tzedek in Potomac, Maryland, a vibrant Conservative synagogue of over 600 families he founded in 1988.Rabbi Weinblatt has held a number of leadership positions, locally and nationally, including having served as the President of the Rabbinic Cabinet of the Jewish Federations of North America, as Director of Israel Policy and Advocacy for the Rabbinical Assembly, and as chair of the JNF’s Rabbis for Israel.

Most recently, Rabbi Weinblatt formed the Zionist Rabbinic Coalition, a coalition of rabbis from all denominations which seeks to encourage rabbis committed to strengthening ties between Jews of the Diaspora and Israel.Rabbi Weinblatt has given the opening prayer at sessions of the United States Senate, the House of Representatives, both houses of the Maryland State legislature, the inaugurations of Maryland’s Governors, as well as numerous other public gatherings.

His dynamic leadership, innovative approach to Judaism and reputation as an outstanding teacher and speaker has been recognized through a number of honors. He was chosen by The Forward as one of “America’s Most Inspiring Rabbis”, as the Greater Washington area ORT “Man of the Year,” a “Pillar of the Community” by the JCRC of Greater Washington, and in surveys conducted by The Washington Jewish Week, as the “Best Rabbi in Washington” by its readers for multiple years. Rabbi Weinblatt has written many articles, poems and Op-Ed pieces, many of which highlight his work as an outspoken and passionate advocate and spokesman for Israel and Jewish causes. He is the author of, “God, Prayer and Spirituality,” a compilation of his sermons and articles, and “Living in the Shadow of Death: A Rabbi Copes with Cancer.” Rabbi Weinblatt and his wife, Symcha, have four adult children and seven grandchildren.
