Anti-Israel activists attempted to install a statue of convicted Palestinian terrorist Marwan Barghouti in London’s Parliament Square on Wednesday.
The “Free Marwan Now” campaign organized the demonstration. Supporters argued that Barghouti should one day stand alongside figures honored in Parliament Square, including Nelson Mandela, Benjamin Disraeli, and Oliver Cromwell.
Barghouti was the leader of the al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades during the Second Intifada. He is serving multiple life sentences after being convicted of his role in terrorist attacks that killed Israeli civilians.
