Anti-Israel activists are preparing to stage large demonstrations in New York City during the United Nations General Assembly later this month, vowing to “flood” the streets outside UN headquarters.
The planned protests are to coincide with appearances by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump next week. Smaller rallies and events have already taken place this week. On Sunday, activists heckled Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon, hurling abuse as he passed near the international forum.
“Zionism is terrorism. All you guys are terrorists committing ethnic cleansing and genocide in Gaza and Palestine. Shame on you, Zionist animals,” one protester shouted, according to video shared on X by Within Our Lifetime (WOL). The individual also accused Israel of carrying out “a Holocaust now against the Palestinian people.”

Such rhetoric explicitly violates example 10 of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism. That example identifies “drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis” as antisemitic.
Comparing Israel to Nazi Germany is not only historically false but also a deliberate attempt to invert Jewish trauma and weaponize the Holocaust against its victims. This tactic is a hallmark of anti-Israel propaganda: portraying Jews as perpetrators of the very crimes committed against them, while erasing the reality of Nazi atrocities and trivializing their victims’ suffering.
Within Our Lifetime Leads Campaign of Incitement
Within Our Lifetime, a New York-based group that openly calls for Israel’s destruction, organized the demonstrations. WOL scheduled a week of anti-Israel events including lectures, dance gatherings, and so-called “anti-Zionist Shabbat services.”
On August 26, WOL announced plans to “flood the UN General Assembly for Gaza” with a mass march next Tuesday, Sept. 23. The group denounced the UN for “watching and debating” while refusing to act against what it falsely called a “genocide” in Gaza.
“We will be there to confront them with the truth: Their silence and inaction enable genocide. The world cannot continue as if Gaza does not exist,” WOL declared. “This is the time to make our voices impossible to ignore. Come to New York by any means necessary, to stand, to march, to demand the UN act and end the siege.”

Radical Groups Join Call to Arrest Israeli Leaders
Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP) and the Palestinian Youth Movement also plan to join the campaign. Both groups announced a march from Times Square to the UN headquarters on Friday.
Their statement went beyond protest. They demanded international action against Israel’s elected leader. “The time is now for each and every UN member state to uphold their duty under international law: sanction Israel and end the genocide,” the groups wrote on Instagram. They also called for Netanyahu’s arrest as a “genocidal war criminal.”
This push reflects another hallmark of anti-Israel activism: lawfare, the strategic misuse of international legal frameworks to isolate and criminalize Israel. By twisting the language of international law, these groups seek to delegitimize the Jewish state, applying standards to Israel applied to no other country.
Effigy Protest Outside UN Condemned
The atmosphere surrounding the UN meetings has already been marked by grotesque displays. Last week, the activist collective INDECLINE staged a stunt outside the UN in which masked protesters kicked a lifelike replica of Netanyahu’s severed head as if it were a soccer ball. The group said the effigy would be donated to what it called “The Palestinian Genocide Museum.”

Antisemitic Narratives Drive Hostility at UN
The coordinated demonstrations show how extremist groups exploit international gatherings to amplify antisemitic narratives and delegitimize Israel’s existence. Dehumanizing Jews as “animals,” spreading false genocide claims, and engaging in violent symbolism represent textbook antisemitic slanders. By equating Israel with Nazi Germany, these activists recycle one of the most pernicious forms of Holocaust inversion. Their goal is to demonize the Jewish state by accusing it of the very crimes committed against the Jewish people.
As world leaders assemble at the UN, activists outside replace debate with incitement. Antisemitic hate speech, lawfare, grotesque effigy protests, and historical distortion converge to fuel hostility against Jews and Israel on the global stage.
