Anti-Israel Mob Overwhelms October 7th Memorial Vigil in New York City

Hundreds of anti-Israel protesters overwhelmed an October 7th anniversary vigil in Manhattan on Wednesday night, with some openly celebrating the massacre.

Israelis for Peace, the left-wing group behind the event, shifted the program to an area of the park surrounded by police barricades, where speakers strained to be heard above the crowd. No arrests were reported.

Before heading to the park, protesters gathered outside City Hall and chanted “Globalize the Intifada” and “Resistance is justified when people are occupied.” One placard read “Liberation in action October 7.”

At the vigil, one demonstrator shouted at the organizers, “We don’t want peace with Israelis, bro! We sent your people to hell on October 7.”

Protesters also grabbed electric candles and sang the Jewish folk song “Hava Nagila” in mockery. Another protester displayed a poster of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, the mastermind of the October 7 attack that killed 1,200 people. Some carried Hamas flags.

“Long live Hamas” was also heard during the disturbance.

When the crowd learned New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was present, they chanted “Traitor!” and “Zohran, what do you say? How many boots did you lick today?” They also yelled, “Zohran, you can’t hide, we charge you with genocide.”

Mamdani said nothing during the program and did not address the protesters.

When Mamdani later left the vigil, demonstrators followed him, with some shouting “opportunist piece of sh*t.”

Vigil participants closed by raising their candles and reciting the Mourner’s Kaddish, the traditional Jewish prayer for the dead. As they left, protesters shouted “Death to the IDF!”
