Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) Executive Director of European Affairs Shannon Seban visited the Czech capital of Prague this week to participate in an International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) conference.

At the forum, attended by 50 ICEJ leaders from 22 countries, Seban was interviewed one-on-one by ICEJ President Dr. Jürgen Bühler on the surge of antisemitism sweeping across the globe today.

In her remarks, Seban highlighted the emergence of new manifestations of Jew-hatred in the 21st century and emphasized that anti-Zionism has become its “most widespread and insidious” type.

Seban called for this phenomenon to be named and confronted “clearly and without hesitation,” and she urged a “strong, united response from both Christian and Jewish communities, as well as from political leaders.”

CAM Executive Director of European Affairs Shannon Seban speaks at an International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) conference, in Prague, Czech Republic.

While in Prague, Seban met with Czech Ambassador-at-Large and Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues, Interfaith Dialogue, and Freedom of Religion Robert Řehák to explore potential collaboration and discuss the current situation of Czech Jewry. The Czech Republic’s Jewish community has 3,000 officially registered members, and an estimated 10,000-20,000 people of Jewish origin live in the country.

The Czech Republic is generally thought of as one of the safest countries for Jews in modern-day Europe, although a 8.5% annual increase in antisemitic incidents was recorded in 2024 in the aftermath of the October 7th massacre in Israel.

Last year, the Czech government adopted a new five-year National Strategy to Combat Antisemitism.

Another of Seban’s meetings in Prague was with Secretary General of the Czech Episcopal Conference Father Roman Czudek to discuss efforts to strengthen Jewish-Christian dialogue and build unity against religious hatred of all forms.

Seban also attended a special ceremony at the Czech Chamber of Deputies honoring Jerusalem Day.
