Belgium’s federal government agreed on Saturday to implement a ban on the import of goods from Israeli “settlements” in Judea and Samaria, making it the fourth European country to advance such a measure.
The decision came after an overnight cabinet session that concluded shortly before ministers began their summer recess.
Belgian officials first agreed in principle to the ban last September, but political disagreements and lengthy negotiations delayed its final approval.
Belgium joins Spain, the Netherlands, and Ireland in taking action to forbid imports from Judea and Samaria.
The Belgian legislative text remains unpublished, meaning the scope of the ban and how it will be enforced remain unclear.
Belgian ministers acknowledged that goods from the “settlements” could still reach Belgian shelves indirectly, routed through third-party nations before entering the country.
