Biracial Jewish Woman Set on Fire in Alleged Hate Crime

A biracial Jewish woman was set on fire and attacked by four white men in Madison, Wisconsin, according to a story in the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

The 18-year-old victim, Althea Bernstein, was in her car while stopped at a traffic light when the incident occurred. Her car window was rolled down when four white men approached her yelling racial slurs. One of the men sprayed flammable liquid on her and then threw a lighter on her, setting her on fire.

Bernstein was taken to a hospital where she was treated for severe burns on her face.

Both the local police and the FBI are investigating the incident as a hate crime.
