Seattle Park Named for Be’er Sheva Defaced With ‘Death to Israel’ and ‘Long Live October 7th’ Graffiti

Red graffiti declaring “Long live October 7th” and “Death to Israel” was recently spray-painted on the welcome sign at Seattle’s Be’er Sheva Park.

Police responded to the South Seattle park on Sept. 30 and classified the graffiti as antisemitic.

Other graffiti included “Victory to Palestine” and an inverted red triangle, a marking used by Hamas to designate Israeli targets that has emerged as a common antisemitic symbol globally in the October 7th aftermath.

Protesters had previously interrupted Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson’s address at a fair honoring the city’s sister cities, demanding she cut ties with Be’er Sheva. Wilson said she agreed with the protesters, who accused Israel of “genocide,” but defended the partnership as a connection between people rather than governments.

The genocide charge against Israel revives the centuries-old blood libel — the lie that Jews murder children — and weaponizes it against the Jewish state.

The park stands near an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood, and its concrete welcome sign bears the word “community” engraved in several languages, including Hebrew. Anti-Israel messages have appeared there repeatedly, and individuals or Seattle Parks and Recreation crews have removed them.

Investigators found no surveillance cameras positioned to capture the incident. The Seattle Police Department’s bias crime unit was investigating the case.
