Coffeyeh, a cafe in Cedar Park, Texas, advertised free lattes this week around the third anniversary of the October 7th Hamas massacre.
Customers had to wear a keffiyeh and tell staff “what day it is” to receive a free latte.
SICK: 🇺🇸 Texas | Oct. 7: Coffeyeh is offering free lattes to customers wearing a keffiyeh who can tell them “what day it is.”
The day Hamas murdered 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped 251 hostages into Gaza.

Ziad Bader and Kareem Soufan, both Palestinian, opened Coffeyeh in Cedar Park, a suburb of the Texas capital of Austin, in May 2025. The cafe’s name is a play on “keffiyeh.”
In a Facebook statement, Coffeyeh said it “unequivocally does not support violence against innocent civilians, regardless of their nationality, ethnicity, religion, or background.”
“Antisemitism, racism, Islamophobia, and hatred of any kind have no place at Coffeyeh,” it added.
Yet the cafe turned the anniversary of October 7th, the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, into a promotional opportunity. Furthermore, its statement closed with “Free Palestine,” beside a watermelon emoji, which has become a popular antisemitic symbol across the globe in the aftermath of October 7th.
A separate cafe, Jerusalem Coffee House in Oakland, California, announced two drinks on October 7, 2024, the massacre’s first anniversary, according to allegations in a U.S. Justice Department lawsuit. The department described “Sweet Sinwar” as an apparent reference to former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, the October 7th mastermind. It also identified “Iced In Tea Fada” as an apparent reference to the “Intifada,” an Arabic term associated with terrorist campaigns against Israel.
In June 2025, the Justice Department sued the Oakland cafe;s owners under Title II of the Civil Rights Act. The lawsuit alleges that owner Fathi Abdulrahim Harara ordered Jewish customers wearing Star of David caps to leave on two separate occasions.
