A suspect in a foiled plot to attack a White House event allegedly identified lawmakers linked to pro-Israel organizations as targets, according to a criminal complaint unsealed on Tuesday.
U.S. federal authorities said they disrupted a multi-state operation involving several individuals who discussed using drones and gunfire against Sunday’s “UFC Freedom 250” event on the White House lawn, attended by President Donald Trump and other senior officials.
According to the complaint, 19-year-old Tycen Proper proposed targeting Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), writing in a group chat that she had taken money from the “pro-Israel lobby” and supported it. Two weeks later, Proper allegedly circulated images of Senators Jim Justice (R-WV) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Representatives Carol Miller (R WV-1) and Riley Moore (R WV-2), writing, “These are people we’re going to focus on.”
Investigators said the images appeared to have been taken from TrackAIPAC.com and included information about how much money the lawmakers had received from pro-Israel political action committees.
The complaint also stated that Proper’s father and grandmother reported he had recently expressed support for Adolf Hitler and posted antisemitic content on social media. Proper was charged with offenses related to conspiracy, attempted murder, and firearms.
The investigation began after Proper’s mother contacted police in Danville, Ohio, expressing concern about his online activity, firearm purchases, and plans to travel with individuals he had met online. Family members later turned over body armor, a shotgun, a rifle, camping equipment, food supplies, and thousands of rounds of ammunition to law enforcement.
During questioning, Proper was said to have admitted participating in plans for a coordinated attack tied to the White House event.
According to investigators, the group planned to gather in Virginia before staging a protest near the White House. While the protest was underway, members allegedly intended to launch explosive-laden drones toward the event and then open fire from positions near evacuation routes.
Proper reportedly told investigators the purpose of the plot was to “jumpstart” a revolution in the United States.
