Swift action is needed to protect Jewish students on college campuses across the country.
Since Hamas’ brutal October 7 attack on Israel, American colleges have turned into hotbeds of antisemitism. Hillel alone has tracked over 1,200 reported antisemitic incidents on campus since October 7 — a 700% increase from the same time period last year.
Congress must step in to pass the bipartisan Antisemitism Awareness Act, which will require the Department of Education and other federal agencies to use the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism and its 11 contemporary examples when enforcing federal anti-discrimination laws.
It’s crucial the Department of Education has the tools and resources it needs to ensure antisemitic hate crimes on college campuses are properly investigated and prosecuted.
As your constituent, I respectfully urge you to help pass the Antisemitism Awareness Act into law as quickly as possible.
