Job Opportunity: CAM Is Hiring a Government Affairs Coordinator

The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) is a global coalition engaging 900 partner organizations and five million people from a diverse array of religious, political, and cultural backgrounds in the common mission of fighting the world’s oldest hatred.

CAM is seeking a passionate individual to join our growing team as a Municipal Government Affairs Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional dedicated to supporting mayors and local elected officials in their efforts to combat antisemitism.

This role reports to the Chief Government Affairs Officer (CGAO) and will be involved in facilitating communication between CAM and local elected officials, tracking policy developments and responses to the Municipal Antisemitism Action Index, and helping to organize initiatives to strengthen municipal responses to antisemitism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mayoral Database Management: Maintain and update contact lists and other databases of mayors, local elected officials, and partners. Track mayoral outreach, correspondence, and participation in CAM events. Utilize CRM to streamline communication and engagement efforts with mayors and municipal leaders.
  • Index of Actions and Advocacy Planning: Track and organize specific mayoral actions against antisemitism, monitoring municipal progress based upon the Municipal Antisemitism Action Index. Support the development of advocacy strategies and outreach for local government engagement on the legislation and policy initiatives in the Index.
  • Events Coordination: Work with the CAM team to coordinate and assist in the execution and logistics of in-person and virtual regional and local mayoral roundtables against antisemitism, mayor delegation trips to Israel, law enforcement training, an annual North American Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism, and additional meetings and events that engage mayors and elected officials in CAM’s mission. Coordinate with CAM’s media and marketing departments.
  • Research and Reports: Track and monitor news items related to municipal officials and antisemitism and research. Prepare reports on policy trends, as well as summary reports for the CEO and stakeholder on CAM’s mayoral and municipal work. Research potential new avenues for outreach to elected officials in the fight against antisemitism, such as national and regional municipal organizations.
  • Communication: Create content for the CAM website on mayoral issues. Help to administer a forum for direct mayoral engagement including private social media and WhatsApp groups. Prepare fundraising materials and assist with communication to partners and donors.
  • Invitations and Letters: Draft and coordinate official invitations for mayors and municipal leaders to CAM events and initiatives. Assist in the preparation of letters (either critical or supportive), statements and proclamations to mayors based upon their actions and events. Assist in enhancing communication efforts with elected officials and partners through email and social media.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience: Experience or strong interest in government affairs, municipal engagement, or policy advocacy. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Slack, Zoom, HubSpot (or other CRMs), and Google Docs.
  • Skills: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills in English, as well as attention to detail and the ability to track multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Compensation: Competitive non-profit salary commensurate with experience.
  • Travel: Some travel may be required as well as attendance at certain in-person meetings and events.
  • Type: This is a full-time, remote-work position, with the potential for weekend and after-hours work.
  • Location: U.S.-based, East Coast preferred, and comfortable with remote-work across a global team in a fast-based environment.
