Recent investigations have unveiled that foreign funding significantly influences our educational system. Such funding introduces ideologies from abroad into American colleges, including those from non-democratic regions with values contrary to Western principles. The International Institute for Strategic Studies’ (IISS) “Follow The Money” project has uncovered that Qatar emerges as the foremost foreign benefactor to U.S. universities over recent years.Â
The ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood, particularly its Palestinian branch Hamas — recognized as a terrorist organization by several countries, including the United States — has found its way into these financial interactions. This influx of foreign capital is directly linked to the rise of antisemitism on American college campuses. Recent research exposed by ISGAP found the staggering scale of Qatari funding to Cornell University, with over $1.95 billion USD donated directly to the university from 2001 to 2023. This makes Qatar the largest direct foreign donor to the university, some 30 times higher than the next largest, Hong Kong, which has donated just $69 million USD since 1995.
We invite you to a pivotal discussion on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 12 pm ET to delve deeper into this pressing matter with experts and researchers who have exposed Qatar funding into American colleges and universities.
