Ahead of Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM) in May, the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) is proud to co-sponsor the Keep Calm and Break Bread event at the Moise Safra Center in New York City on Thursday, April 27, from 5:30 PM-7:30 PM.
The goal of the gathering — organized by Connect Culture NYC — is to provide an opportunity for New York City youth to learn about Jewish culture and traditions, teach them the process of making challah bread from scratch, and create a fun and engaging activity that promotes teamwork and collaboration.
At the event, CAM will officially announce the launch of a JAHM creative contest, open to Connect Culture NYC’s spring 2023 cohort of high school students. Participants will submit essays, poems, or short videos responding to a prompt about Jewish American heritage.
Winners will be selected through a combination of peer voting and an evaluation by a panel of judges. The 20 chosen winners will be awarded an exciting opportunity to join a trip to Israel this summer.
The contest’s submission deadline will be May 20.
