Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) Chief Government Affairs Officer Lisa Katz recently concluded a a series of meetings with municipal leaders across the northeastern United States, with stops in Maine, New Hampshire, New York, and Pennsylvania, following a previous visit to Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

The trip was part of CAM’s ongoing efforts to engage mayors in the fight against antisemitism in cities throughout North America and globally.

Katz’s itinerary included sit-downs with officials in Philadelphia (PA), Pittsburgh (PA), Sharpsburg (PA), Albany (NY), Portsmouth (NH), Portland (ME), and Lewiston (ME).

“Having spent ten years as a municipal leader myself, I know how many issues compete for a mayor’s attention,” Katz, a former town supervisor of New Castle (NY), said. “That’s why I especially appreciate the time these officials took to discuss the needs of their Jewish communities and the steps cities can take to address antisemitism.”

“I was encouraged by their openness, thoughtful questions, and willingness to work together,” she added. “These conversations marked an important part of building lasting partnerships, and I look forward to continued cooperation moving forward.”

A key aim of the trip was to lay the groundwork for CAM’s Northeast Municipal Leadership Convening to be held in New York City in December.

The regional forum will offer participants an opportunity for collaborative dialogue with experts and peers about cities-oriented strategies and action plans to safeguard Jewish life.
