Central America Forum for Israel to Bring Top Regional Leaders Together for United Stand Against Antisemitism

July 21, 2021

Top leaders from Central America, Israel, and elsewhere will come together next week for a unique celebration — the first-ever Central America Forum for Israel.

With antisemitism running rampant in many parts of the world, the strong bonds between Central America, Israel, and the Jewish people deserve to be heralded, and that is what this historic gathering is about.

Hosted by the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) and Center for Jewish Impact, in partnership with the Guatemala-Israel Friendship League, Congress of the Republic of Guatemala, and Jewish Community of Guatemala, this virtual event is providing a platform for prominent figures — including President of the Republic of Guatemala Alejandro Giammattei, the keynote speaker — to reject antisemitism and unite in a powerful show of support for Israel.

The forum will be broadcast globally on Thursday, July 29th, at 1 PM EDT.

The forum can be watched live here:

Co-Sponsors include B’nai B’rith International, the Israel Allies Foundation (IAF), World ORT, and Israel Export Institute.

In addition to Guatemala and Israel, high-level participants from Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and the United States are joining the forum.

The event will feature speeches, panel discussions, musical performances, and video presentations, as well as several special surprises.

The forum is coinciding with the third anniversary of the proclamation of Guatemala’s Israel Friendship Law.

CAM Executive Director Sacha Roytman-Dratwa said, “At this moment in history, with Israel under constant attack and with antisemitic hatred flourishing worldwide, it is time for friends of the Jewish people and Israel to stand up and be counted in a display of resolute solidarity. The Central America Forum for Israel is the first event of many that will build a united front to combat the oldest form of hatred, while simultaneously strengthening the ties of the State of Israel to our partners in the region.”
