Last Friday, at a protest in Illinois against Governor JB Pritzker, who is Jewish, protesters held signs reading “Heil, Pritzker” and “Arbeit Mach Frei JB.”

Arbeit Mach Frei is the German phrase meaning “work will make you free” that is inscribed on the gate of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp where more than 1.1 million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust.
