The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) and YJP New York hosted a special wine-tasting event on New York City on Monday for a group of young Jewish professionals.
The gathering, led by CAM Director of Community Engagement Shira Granot, explored the connection between wine and the battle against the antisemitic hatred that is currently sweeping over the world.
Participants had the opportunity to sample selections from a number of renowned Israeli wineries, many of which have been adversely impacted by the October 7th attack and the ongoing war it triggered.
“In the past 20 years, we have been going through a revolution of finding our voice,” Granot said of Israel’s wine industry. “And this voice is a Mediterranean country. It’s hot 80% of the time, it’s 200% humid. And you can see that the wine and the style is starting to change completely.”
Among the attendees were a delegation of members of Israel’s Druze community, who are now visiting the United States on a CAM-organized speaking tour to share their unique perspectives on the rich diversity of Israeli society.
