THIS WEEK’S GLOBAL ANTI-SEMITISM REPORT
This week, the number of reported antisemitic incidents worldwide ticked upward again compared to prior weeks, as Jewish communities continue to experience a rise in hatred and intolerance from across the ideological spectrum.
In Philadelphia, a culinary festival was cancelled amid outrage over the disinvitation of an Israeli food truck, resulting from threats by Pro-Palestinian activists. In Connecticut, a Jewish Community Center was evacuated after receiving a bomb threat, and a bullet was fired into the window of a Brooklyn synagogue.
Three Jewish schools in Australia were targeted with antisemitic vandalism in the past week, and new reports describe Dutch Jewish students facing a torrent of Pro-Palestinian antisemitic harassment. Authorities placed a retired French General under investigation for using an antisemitic slur during a live TV interview.
Meanwhile, Germany’s government banned the Hamas flag after widespread antisemitic demonstrations last month and the UK announced it would be joining the US, Canada and Australia in boycotting the UN’s upcoming 20th anniversary Durban conference, “following historic concerns regarding antisemitism.”
CAM’s weekly global antisemitism report highlights 61 new media reports of antisemitic incidents, including 23 (38%) from the far left and 11 (18%) from the far right, as well as 16 (26%) with Islamist motivations, and 11 (18%) unidentifiable in nature.
