In this week’s global anti-Semitism report, CAM covers 37 new anti-Semitic incidents (46% far-right, 27% far-left, 14% Islamist, and 13% unidentifiable).
The FBI arrested a white supremacist who boasted of his desire to gas Jews. The British Jewish community expressed outrage over a BBC program in which four non-Jews debated whether Jews should be considered a minority group.
Just this morning, a knife-wielding man was arrested outside of a Jewish school and Kosher grocery store in France. In the Middle East, the Palestinian Authority published a cartoon depicting Prime Minister Netanyahu as Hitler and a new report from IMPACT-se shows that textbooks in Turkey now refer to Jews as “infidels.”
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the Biden Administration “enthusiastically embraces” the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism, including its examples. The University of California – San Diego student government and the Global Student Forum adopted the IHRA definition this week.

Congressman Ted Deutch (D-FL) urged the US government to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of anti-Semitism. That applies to both the anti-Semitism on the political left and on the political right. Graffiti in east London branding the UK a “Zionist police state” is being investigated by police. The daubing appeared on Rothbury Road near the Queen’s Yard in Hackney Wick, by the Olympic Park. A man armed with a knife attempted to enter a kosher grocery store near a Jewish school in the city of Marseille, before being overpowered by security personnel and arrested. The man was spotted by security guards at the Yavne Jewish high school in the city emerging from a vehicle with a knife. The owner of a kosher restaurant in Amsterdam said that he had lost count of the times his establishment had been vandalized in recent years after anti-Semitic graffiti was discovered on its windows. WISCONSIN SEES 36% INCREASE IN REPORTED ANTI-SEMITIC INCIDENTS IN 2020
Anti-Semitic incidents reported in Wisconsin increased 36% from 2019 to 2020, according to the Jewish Community Relations Council of Milwaukee Jewish Federation. “2020 was sadly, but not surprisingly, another high-water mark year for anti-Semitic incidents in Wisconsin, surpassing recorded incidents from 2019,” said Brian Schupper, Chair of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC). A new report found that the latest editions of Turkish school textbooks take a strongly negative view of Israel and now describe Jews as “infidels.” The report by IMPACT-se, which examines education materials on the basis of UNESCO standards related to peace, human rights, and tolerance, has found an increasing “Islamization” of the Turkish curriculum, in accordance with the Islamist government led by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Since its launching in February 2019, 294 organizations and 299,000 individuals have joined the Combat Anti-Semitism Movement by signing the campaign’s pledge. The CAM Pledge draws upon the IHRA international definition of anti- Semitism and its list of specific behaviors used to discriminate against the Jewish people and the Jewish State of Israel.
