ANTISEMITES HANG BANNER OVER LA FREEWAY DECLARING KANYE ‘RIGHT ABOUT THE JEWS’
By JOI STAFF
Antisemites in Los Angeles, California, stated their support for recent tirades against Jews made by Kanye West, by hanging banners over a freeway in the city and declaring that “Kanye is right about the Jews.” It appeared that the racist Goyim Defense League was behind the move, with members photographed performing Nazi salutes beside the banner. West has recently repeated antisemitic outbursts across social media and in news interviews, including vowing to go “death con 3 on Jewish people,” claiming that he is the target of a “Jewish underground media mafia,” and that “Jewish people have owned the Black voice.” He was locked out of several social media accounts as a result of his comments.

[West]’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”

DEMAND FOR PROBE INTO BBC COVERAGE OF JEWS AND ISRAEL
By JONATHAN SACERDOTI
The JC is launching a public online petition today demanding a parliamentary inquiry into the BBC’s coverage of Jews and Israel. The move comes after a string of controversial stories by the BBC caused concern in the Jewish community — followed by BBC responses that only deepened that concern. This week, the BBC admitted unfairly criticising Israel in a report on the beheading of a gay Palestinian by other Palestinians. And six weeks ago, an open letter to BBC Director-General Tim Davie demanding impartiality on Jewish issues was ignored. Delivered in September, the landmark letter was signed by politicians from both Labour and the Conservatives, from both houses of Parliament, with Jewish groups and public figures.

JEWISH GROUPS CRITICIZE NIGEL FARAGE FOR CALLING GRANT SHAPPS ‘GLOBALIST’
By PETER WALKER
Jewish groups and campaigners have condemned commentators and media including Nigel Farage and GB News for calling Grant Shapps a “globalist”, a term which has associations with antisemitism and the far right. John Mann, the former Labour MP who is now a non-affiliated peer and is the government’s independent adviser on antisemitism, called for GB News to sack both Farage and another of its presenters, Dan Wootton, if they did not rescind the language. After Shapps, who is Jewish, was appointed in place of Suella Braverman, a series of rightwing commentators and politicians used Twitter to paint his elevation as part of a plot in which anti-Brexit “globalists” were taking over Liz Truss’s government.

In addition, the Nazi slogans “Sieg Heil” and “Heil Hitler” were sprayed on the facade. The school’s caretaker discovered the graffiti on Saturday morning and informed the police. The headmaster is appalled. He told BILD: “This is the first time something like this has happened at our school.”

GERMANY – DACHAU NUNS RECEIVE AN ANTISEMITIC HATE LETTER
By KATHOLISCH
An anonymous antisemitic hate letter landed in the mailbox of the Carmelite convent at the Dachau concentration camp memorial site. “The content of this letter is, to put it mildly, impossible,” said a religious of the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” (online edition Monday). The monastery reported it. The report quotes the Fürstenfeldbruck detective chief Manfred Frei. Accordingly, the content of the letter satisfies the facts of Holocaust denial. The central antisemitism commissioner of the Bavarian judiciary, chief public prosecutor Andreas Franck, took over the proceedings.

RUSSIAN CHIEF RABBI PROTESTS AS TOP OFFICIAL DESCRIBES CHABAD AS A SUPREMACIST CULT
By JUDAH ARI GROSS
A top Russian national security official referred to the Chabad-Lubavitch Hasidic movement in Ukraine as a supremacist cult on Tuesday, drawing fierce condemnation from Russia’s chief rabbi, Berel Lazar, who is himself a Lubavitcher. In an article for the government-owned Argumenty i Fakty weekly newspaper, assistant secretary of the Russian Security Council Aleksey Pavlov called for the “desatanization” of Ukraine, claiming that the country is home to hundreds of neo-pagan cults. Pavlov included in his list of cults the Chabad-Lubavitch sect, which began in the 18th century in Russia and is today a major religious force throughout the former Soviet Union and in Russia and Ukraine in particular.

HIGH-LEVEL MIDEAST CONFERENCES TO CONNECT ISRAELIS, SIX ARAB NATIONS TO ADVANCE NORMALIZATION
By GABBY DEUTCH
More than two years after the signing of the Abraham Accords, collaboration between Israel and its new Arab partners has flourished. A new series of high-level conferences that will convene government officials, NGOs and private sector leaders in the “N7” — Israel and the Arab nations with which it has normalized ties — intends to formalize that cooperation and lay the groundwork for enhanced regional partnerships, Jewish Insider has learned. The conferences will serve as the cornerstone of the newly expanded N7 Initiative, a regional program that intends to bolster cooperation between Israel and Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Bahrain, Sudan and the United Arab Emirates, the organizers said. It will officially launch on Tuesday, when Israeli President Isaac Herzog delivers an address about his vision for Israeli-Arab normalization at the Atlantic Council in Washington.

USA – SUKKAH VANDALIZED AT MIAMI UNIVERSITY IN WESTERN OHIO
By JNS
Police in Oxford, Ohio, are investigating the destruction of a sukkah on the grounds of the Hillel at Miami University during the recent Sukkot holiday. As seen on security video, three college-age men entered the Hillel center’s grounds around 2 am on Oct. 15. They entered the sukkah and toppled the canvas structure on its side. “The desecration and vandalization of this ritual item and the damage done to our sukkah is distressing enough. While (thankfully) we have an extra sukkah, what has shaken our students and staff to the core and left me with a pit at the bottom of my stomach is the complete violation of our property, and of our sacred space,” Whitney Fisch, the executive director of Hillel at Miami University, wrote in a letter posted on social media.

PARENTS STUNNED BY ZIONSVILLE, IN SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATE’S COMMENT ON NAZIS
By LOGAN GAY
Heffernan said a recent Facebook comment by Zionsville school board candidate Dr. Matt Keefer was a major red flag. In the comment, he is responding to someone who asked about his stance on indoctrination. The poster asked, “Would teaching students ‘all Nazis are bad’ be considered indoctrination?” Keefer responded by saying, “All Nazis weren’t ‘bad’ as you specify. They did horrible things. They were in a group frenzy in both cases you site.” He goes on to write, “Who is to say if we were both there in the same place and time, that we wouldn’t have done the same thing.” This comment shocked many people on the timeline.

NEW POLL REVEALS FAR LEFT’S EMBRACE OF ANTISEMITIC TROPES
By JNS
Four-fifths of self-identified “progressive” and “very liberal” likely voters in the U.S. believe Jewish Americans have “unfair advantages” that need to be addressed, according to a new poll conducted by the Jewish Institute for Liberal Values (JILV) and OneMessage Public Strategies, which revealed the American far left’s embrace of a series of anti-Israel and antisemitic tropes. In the nationwide survey of 1,600 likely voters, 17% of progressives and 20% of very liberal respondents agree that American Jews have too much power, while 21% of progressives and 25% of very liberals say Jews “benefit from privilege.” Forty-five percent of progressive respondents view Israel as an “occupier/colonizer,” and 47% of progressives think Israel has too much power.

By TOVAH LAZAROFF
There is no comparison between Russia’s actions in Ukraine and Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians, State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters in Washington as he rejected an attempt by UN human right expert Navi Pillay to make such a linkage. “I think it is important to take a step back and to recognize the profound differences between those two situations,” Price stated.

ARKANSAS’ ISRAEL ANTI-BOYCOTT LAW APPEALED TO THE SUPREME COURT
By MIKE WAGENHEIM
The state of Arkansas’ Israel boycott law could come before the U.S. Supreme Court following a petition filed Thursday. The Arkansas Times, represented by the American Civil Liberties Union, is appealing a June decision by the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which ruled that an Arkansas law limiting state business with those who refuse to sign a pledge not to boycott Israel is not a violation of the First Amendment. The 9-1 decision in the case of Arkansas Times LP v. Waldrip, made by the entire court, reversed a ruling by a three-judge panel that the law was unconstitutional. It is the first full federal appeals court ruling on state anti-BDS laws, which around 35 states have enacted.

By CONTRIBUTING EDITOR

IN LONDON EXHIBITION, SNAPSHOTS OF JEWISH LIFE SOON TO BE SHATTERED BY THE HOLOCAUST
By ROBERT PHILPOT
The image of the Vienna-based Hakoah team in the late 1920s was owned by Hubert Nassau. The message was sent by him to fellow teammate Fritz Lichtenstein seven years after the defeat of the Third Reich. Nassau’s picture — and an equally striking one of his future wife, fellow Jewish refugee Lisette Pollak, demonstrating her gymnastic prowess in the 1930s — feature in a powerful new exhibition, “’There was a time…’: Jewish Family Photographs Before 1939,” at London’s Wiener Holocaust Library. The exhibition draws on Wiener’s archive of over 700 family papers collections — the largest related to Jewish refugees from Nazi Europe in the UK. Donated over the years by Jewish refugees and their families, the treasure trove includes extensive collections of photographs: portraits, snapshots and albums.
