In the latest incident of anti-Israel unrest at Columbia University in New York City, more than 100 masked anti-Israel demonstrators stormed Butler Library on Wednesday, during finals week, and the NYPD was called in to restore order, with dozens of arrests made.
Commenting on the situation, the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) issued the following statement:
“CAM strongly condemns the aggressive and disruptive actions of masked anti-Israel protesters who stormed the Columbia University library during finals week. This brazen act of intimidation targeted students at one of the most stressful times of the academic year, creating a climate of fear and harassment in what should be a safe space for learning.”
“Such behavior is not protected speech. It is harassment. We stand in full solidarity with the Jewish students and all members of the Columbia community who were subjected to this unacceptable disruption. The university must take immediate and decisive action to hold those responsible accountable and ensure that campuses remain places of learning, not fear.”
