The Combat Antisemitism Movement released a video on Friday highlighting the anti-democratic and anti-Western nature of the global wave of demonstrations triggered by the October 7th Hamas massacre in Israel and its aftermath.
“Not all pro-Palestinian protestors are anti-democracy. But enough are,” CAM said. “It’s time to push back. Before it’s too late.”

CAM CEO Sacha Roytman commented, “It is not against Israel or the Jews. It is against the West. Today, our civilizations are clashing: Western democracies versus radical Islamist nations and their allies, including Russia, China, and others.”

The text of the video follows:
Since October 7, 2023, millions around the world have taken to the streets to show their support for Hamas a recognized terrorist organization.
But was it only about Hamas, or is there something else hidden beneath the surface?
These demonstrations have always carried multiple messages:
- Opposing Israel’s right to defend itself.
- Spreading lies about Israel committing genocide.
- Calling for the murder of Jews in a global intifada.
- Supporting Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, and the Houthis.
We have found that it goes beyond these points.
Recent demonstrations reveal that this is about a clash of civilizations and ideologies: modern democracies against radical Islamists and their progressive allies.
How do we know this?
We have documented dozens of incidents promoting hatred and violence against the West. In the streets and on college campuses, we have seen calls against the United States and all Western values. Flags have been burned, and symbols vandalized and destroyed.
In May, graffiti appeared on the University of Washington campus calling to “kill your local colonizer,” in reference to American Jews.
American Jews have experienced an alarming surge in antisemitism, with statistics showing a 103% rise in violence last year.
But it’s not just Jews who are being targeted.
On October 10th, just three days after Hamas’ massacre of more than 1,200 Israelis, protestors were already undermining support for America.
Over the coming months, protesters called America “terrorists” and for the country to “fail,” in Chicago, flyers calling for a revolution and with a burning American flag were distributed, and in New York, a group called “Revolutionary Communists of America” took to the streets.
These protests strengthen those looking to destroy America.
We’ve seen a protestors cut down American flags, masked people snatch American flags out of other people’s hands, and seen the US flag ripped down in North Carolina, replaced with the Palestinian flag.
Protestors even defaced monuments for those killed in the WWI with graffiti about Gaza, and burn the American flag under it, while others call for America to burn, and “Death to America.”
Symbolically, protestors raised the Palestinian flag above the American flag in Chicago.
It’s not just flags that are targeted. Students at UC Berkeley torched police cars.
Numerous Starbucks cafes have had windows smashed and been vandalized.
And all that without mentioning the support for Hamas, which continues to hold five American citizens hostage in Gaza, and for Hezbollah, which infamously bombed a U.S. military barracks in Beirut the 1980s, killing 241 American servicemen and women.
Put it all together, and you get things like this: a man in a Hamas headband holding a mask depicting the bloody head of the U.S. president, while another man behind him burns an American flag.
Not all protestors are anti-American or anti-democracy.
But enough are.
Their actions cannot be overlooked any longer.
The future of democracy itself depends on it.
