The Antisemitism Research Center (ARC) by CAM has released an in-depth report exposing the shocking extent of pro-terror content promoted by Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) on Instagram, in clear violation of Meta’s Community Standards and university codes of conduct.
Over six months (July 2024-January 2025) of rigorous monitoring of 276 Instagram accounts associated with SJP and Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine (FSJP), the ARC documented 269 items glorifying U.S.-designated terrorist organizations, including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, celebrating the October 7th massacre in Israel, and/or inciting violence against Jewish and pro-Israel students on college campuses worldwide.
Dedicated to the elimination of the Jewish state, SJP is the leading antisemitic group on American college and university campuses. Faculty & Staff for Justice in Palestine Network (FSJP), comprised of university employees, shares this anti-Zionist agenda. Both groups have exploited Instagram, a platform with 171 million U.S. users, to amplify their violent rhetoric, flouting Meta’s policies against hate speech and dangerous organizations.
Based on the findings, CAM is calling on Meta to ban SJP under its “Dangerous Organizations and Individuals” policy and to strengthen moderation to address unambiguously antisemitic or threatening content. The report also urges university administrations to enforce student conduct codes, suspend groups promoting violence, and bolster campus security in response to these threats.
“These groups openly praise mass murder and incite violence against Jewish communities,” said CAM CEO Sacha Roytman. “Celebrating terrorist attacks on innocent civilians and supporting terrorist groups that target Jews cannot become normalized. This report is a call to action for Meta and university leaders to curb SJP’s extremism and prevent hostile campus environments.”
CAM’s analysis revealed that Meta has suspended, at most, 7.7% of flagged accounts, while only 19% of SJP chapters officially affiliated with universities faced suspension or loss of recognition. In one example, Bears for Palestine at University of California, Berkeley wrote on October 7, 2023 — the day of Hamas’ massacre in Israel: “We display our unwavering support of the resistance in Gaza and the broader occupied Palestinian lands,” and “Towfan Al-Aqsa [Hamas’ name for its attack] now stands as a revolutionary moment in contemporary Palestinian resistance.”
Such rhetoric aligns with the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism, which lists “calling for, aiding, or justifying the killing or harming of Jews in the name of a radical ideology” as a contemporary example of Jew-hatred.
In 2024, the ARC recorded 742 antisemitic incidents on U.S. campuses — a 120.8% increase from 2023.
