Numerous clear manifestations of hateful antisemitic rhetoric and behavior were seen in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, as thousands of anti-Israel demonstrators gathered in the American capital to protest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to a joint session of the U.S. Congress.
In his speech, which can be viewed below, Netanyahu thanked America for its bipartisan support in the aftermath of the October 7th attack and called for strengthening the U.S.-Israel alliance even further.
Netanyahu also devoted a portion of his 54-minute speech to the massive surge of antisemitism that has swept across the globe since October 7th.
“Antisemitism is the world’s oldest hatred,” he said. “For centuries, the massacre of Jews was always preceded by wild accusations. We were accused of everything from poisoning wells to spreading plagues to using the blood of slaughtered children to bake Passover matzos. These preposterous antisemitic lies led to persecution, mass murder, and ultimately, to history’s worst genocide, the Holocaust.”
“Now, just as malicious lies were leveled for centuries at the Jewish people, malicious lies are now being leveled at the Jewish state,” Netanyahu noted. “No, no. Don’t applaud. Listen. The outrageous slanders that paint Israel as racist and genocidal are meant to delegitimize Israel, to demonize the Jewish state and to demonize Jews everywhere. And no wonder, no wonder we’ve witnessed an appalling rise of antisemitism in America and around the world. My friends, whenever and wherever we see the scourge of antisemitism, we must unequivocally condemn it and resolutely fight it, without exception.”
As an Israeli citizen, I am deeply touched by the strong bipartisan support our Prime Minister receives during his visit to America. Both sides are meeting with him and expressing their unwavering support.
This is how it should be between friends. Israel is now a friend in need,…

“These images should make the stomachs of decent Americans queasy,” the Combat Antisemtism Movement (CAM) tweeted. “This is NOT just one or two people. And if these views are unrepresentative of the majority, why didn’t other protestors force these odious individuals to put their hate symbols away?”
