A crudely anti-Semitic video has been hosted by YouTube since January 2018, continuing to collect hundreds of thousands of views. It needs to be removed.

UPDATE: Within several hours of our campaign launch, the video was removed by YouTube for violating hate speech policies. Thank you to our movement and partners for helping make it happen.

Original Post:

The video, beginning at the two minute and thirty second mark (02:30) emphasizes that powerful Jews secretly control the world, including the banking, energy, healthcare, education and political sectors. It describes  Jews as having been “the unseen hand guiding the world for centuries.” The video accuses Jews of having engineered wars (including both World Wars), financial depressions, health epidemics, poverty and terrorism – including the 9/11 attacks. It also falsely asserts that Jews were a driving force behind the African slave trade.

This overwhelming selection of conspiracy theories is only the latest in an ancient line of false conspiracies about Jews dating back to early Christianity. The blood libels and suggested plans of world domination have more recently given way to falsifications about how Israelis treat Palestinian children, or the bizarre suggestion that Israel’s intelligence agency carried out the attacks on the World Trade Center. The stereotype of Jews as nefarious, plotting manipulators runs the risk of leading to real life violence. And yet, YouTube has not seen fit to remove such damaging material.

The video runs counter to YouTube’s policies regarding prohibited content. YouTube officially prohibits content that promotes or condones violence or incites hatred against individuals or groups based on core characteristics such as ethnicity, gender and sexual identity, and religion. This includes one of the most targeted minorities for hate crimes in the USA today – the Jewish people.

Please join us and call on YouTube to remove this hateful video:

Suggested letter template:

Dear Mr. Halprin,

I am writing to you because I am shocked by the video “What is a New World Order”, hosted on YouTube, which featured inciteful, anti-Semitic conspiracy theories about Jews controlling the world. The video accuses Jews of having engineered wars (including both World Wars), financial depressions, health epidemics, poverty and terrorism – including the 9/11 attacks. It asserts that Jews seek to dominate the world.

I respectfully ask Youtube to enforce its prohibition of content that promotes or condones violence or incites hatred against individuals or groups based on core characteristics such as ethnicity, gender and sexual identity, and religion.

YouTube has a long history of hosting examples of anti-Semitism, but also – thankfully – a strong track record of responding to such concerns. I ask that you take action now to prevent further hate and indoctrination. Such a video, which promotes hatred and dehumanization of Jews is dangerous and he should not be given a platform on your website.
