Take Action: Celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month

Status: Active

May is Jewish American Heritage Month (JAHM) — a national opportunity to honor the generations of Jewish Americans who have enriched the fabric of American society. From pioneering leaders and groundbreaking scientists to influential artists, educators, entrepreneurs, and public servants, Jewish Americans have played an essential role in shaping the nation’s history, culture, and values.

Established in 2006 by presidential proclamation, JAHM is more than a commemoration — it’s a call to educate and celebrate. Especially during a time of rising antisemitism, it is vital that Jewish stories, voices, and contributions are recognized and remembered — not only in May, but throughout the year.

This year, individuals and institutions across the country are invited to take part in a nationwide movement of visibility, pride, and solidarity. Whether you’re a teacher, student, parent, community leader, business owner, or ally — you can help make an impact.

Why It Matters

In a time of growing challenges to truth, history, and identity, JAHM is a powerful reminder of what unity, awareness, and education can achieve. It’s an opportunity to counter hate with hope, ignorance with understanding, and invisibility with recognition.

Jewish American history is American history. Let’s honor it — and make it visible — with pride.

Together, we can amplify Jewish heritage and ensure it continues to shine in every state, school, and community.
