‘A Disingenuous Attempt to Whitewash the Atmosphere of Antisemitic Incitement He Has Fueled’: CAM Slams New York City Mayor Mamdani’s ‘Strategy to Combat Antisemitism’

Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) Chief Government Affairs Officer Lisa Katz issued the following statement on Tuesday, in response to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s unveiling of a municipal “Strategy to Combat Antisemitism”:

“On his first day on office, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani showed that his longstanding hostility toward Jews would become municipal policy under his watch when he rescinded his predecessor’s adoption of the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism and lifted a prohibition on municipal officials from engaging in BDS.”

“Mamdani’s ‘Strategy to Combat Antisemitism’ offers nothing new, doubling down on those reprehensible moves. The plan he announced today is merely a disingenuous attempt to whitewash the atmosphere of antisemitic incitement he himself has fueled with his repeated demonization of a core element of Jewish identity — the shared history and heritage rooted in the Land of Israel.”

“In Mamdani’s New York, Jews must reject who they are as a people to be deemed worthy of municipal protection. This cannot stand. At this point, it is clear Mamdani is who he is and will not change. The Combat Antisemitism Movement will continue to hold the mayor and his administration to account for their failure to fulfill their civic obligations to New York’s Jewish community.”
