A group of South Florida mayors who visited Israel earlier this summer on a solidarity mission organized by the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) shared their experiences on Thursday at a legal forum in Miami.
The event — co-hosted by CAM and the Israeli Consulate in Miami — was held at the offices of Shutts & Bowen LLP.
Participants included Sunny Isles Beach Mayor Larisa Svechin, North Bay Village Mayor Brent Latham, North Miami Mayor Alix Desulme, Parkland Vice Mayor Jordan Isrow, CAM advisor and former Bal Harbour Mayor Gabriel Groisman, and Israeli Consul General in Miami Maor Elbaz-Starinsky, among others.
“This gathering of high-level attorneys and community leaders to hear from several mayors that participated in CAM’s mission to Israel only reaffirms the amazing work the organization is doing,” Groisman said. “CAM’s efforts continue to reverberate in the mayors’ communities across the country. It was an honor to present on behalf of CAM to share the vision and the mission with this group.”

During a week-long visit to Israel in June, CAM’s mayoral delegation met government and diplomatic officials, visited historical, cultural, and religious sites, engaged with local communities, and discussed best practices for municipal governance and community relations.
The mayors also participated in a Tel Aviv rally calling for the release of the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza since October 7th.
CAM Chief Government Affairs Officer Lisa Katz stated, “CAM’s U.S. Mayors Solidarity Mission to Israel brought together mayors from across the United States to witness the aftermath of October 7th and interact with local leaders and community representatives. They returned home with an appreciation for Israel and a renewed commitment to fight antisemitism in their communities.”
As the world focuses on Israel’s response to the October 7th massacre, it’s more important than ever to keep in mind why and how this war started.
