Mobile Holocaust Education Center Visits Toronto Area Schools After Recent Spate of Antisemitic Incidents
A mobile Holocaust education center is visiting Toronto area schools following a series of incidents involving Nazi salutes performed by students and swastika vandalism.
The Tour for Humanity — run by the Canada-based Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) — offers students and educators an interactive digital experience designed to inspire action against contemporary antisemitism and other forms of hatred and intolerance.
Tour for Humanity Director Daniella Lurion told CityNews, “I certainly think the rise of social media and misinformation online is fueling a lot of what we’re seeing today. A good part of what we do is to dispel myths and conspiracy theories.”
Toronto District School Board (TDSB) spokesperson Ryan Bird said it was “clear that students and some staff do need to learn more about the Holocaust and human rights.”
