3. SCHOOL-YARD ANTI-SEMITISM: THE ANTIDOTE IS HOLOCAUST EDUCATION

By Dalya Meyer (Tulane University, Class of 2022)

In a nation as diverse as the United States, a lack of Holocaust and tolerance education naturally leads to gaps in awareness and empathy among children, with long-term consequences. Holocaust education is something that should not just be taught in one lesson during a high school history course, but incorporated into curricula for students as young as elementary school. If all schools began to adopt mandatory Holocaust and tolerance education, we may begin to see a change in the next generation of children.  Read Here

4. GLOBAL CHAOS IS BREEDING ANTI-SEMITISM. GLOBAL LEADERS MUST END IT

By SIMA VAKNIN-GILL, CAM ADVISOR

The dominant issues of the day – coronavirus and the struggle for black rights – have been manipulated beyond belief to fuel unprecedented levels of anti-Semitism. THESE EXTRAORDINARY last few months are a worrying laboratory for understanding what happens when anti-Semitism against Jews as individuals, part of a community, or represented by Israel, is allowed to flourish. When the classic bigoted anti-Semitism of the Right meets the new “rational” anti-Semitism of the Left, it is more dangerous than ever. Read Here

1. “AS A YOUNG JEWISH WOMAN, I’M GLAD WE’RE FINALLY TALKING ABOUT ANTI-SEMITISM”

By ARIELLE TCHIPROUT

I’m a 25 year-old British-Israeli Jewish woman, and I have experienced anti-Semitism my whole life. But, up until now, I have felt my concerns ignored or dismissed. Whenever I have tried to speak out about these incidents, I have felt myself shouting into the abyss. Can anyone see me? Does anyone care? Although the anti-Semitism of recent years has been traumatic, I now feel liberated to discuss my Jewishness. For the first time, I feel seen and heard. Maybe not by everyone, maybe not quite yet, but the conversation about anti-Semitism is finally cracking open. I hope it lasts.  Read Here

3. HATE IS HATE. OUR OUTRAGE AGAINST ANTI-SEMITISM SHOULD BE NO DIFFERENT

By Rachel Creeger

It’s been incredibly depressing to read the comments which aim to reduce the impact of the statements by Wiley and other celebrities along the lines of: is Judaism a race though? Isn’t it just a religion? Isn’t this really about Israel/Palestine? Is it really anti-Semitic to say “insert quote” or is it just asking a basic question? Isn’t everyone originating from the Middle East actually a Semite? Right now these questions are all distractions and diversions from the issue at hand. If you’re in any doubt, substitute the word anti-Semitism for any other form of racism, or Jews for any other minority in the context of your question. See if it changes anything. Ask yourself whether these questions would come up regarding another group of people. It isn’t a competition. Hate is hate.  Read Here

OVER 280,000 INDIVIDUALS AND 265 ORGANIZATIONS HAVE SIGNED OUR PLEDGE.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

“Combat anti-Semitism (CAM) is a non-partisan, global grassroots movement of interfaith individuals and organizations united to combat anti-Semitism. CAM exposes anti-Semitic activity from across the ideological spectrum and highlights those working to fight against its resurgence. One of the most pernicious forms of modern anti-Semitism is the effort to deny and delegitimize the Jewish people’s right to self-determination and their profound historic, religious and cultural connection to their ancestral homeland, Israel. Humanity flourishes when religious, ethnic, and cultural diversity is respected, and we hope to encourage understanding and set an example through our work. Anti-Semitism is the oldest form of bigotry and by working to eliminate it, we hope tragedies like the holocaust or any incidents of hate inspired speech or violence perpetrated against the Jewish people, Israel, or any discriminated group are reduced significantly.”
