THIS WEEK’S GLOBAL ANTI-SEMITISM REPORT
This week, Jewish communities around the world remained on high alert following the global surge of antisemitism that accompanied last month’s Israel-Gaza violence.
While the overall number of antisemitic incidents dropped from the previous week, there were still many disturbing acts of hatred targeting Jews.
In Tucson, Arizona, a Chabad center was vandalized with graffiti, including a swastika and the words, “Dirty k–e.” In Brooklyn, New York, an enraged assailant stormed into a Jewish-owned pizzeria, flipping over tables and throwing items at diners. In London, England, a Jewish children’s school bus had its tires slashed. In Ulm, Germany, a man tried to set a synagogue on fire. And in France, a prominent politician espoused a repugnant conspiracy theory about the 2012 shooting attack at a Toulouse Jewish school.
Recent days saw two significant International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism adoptions — first by Switzerland, which became the 36th country to take this important step, and Canada’s Quebec Province.
In the United States, the Senate’s Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism was relaunched with 56 members.

RISE IN HATE CRIMES IN NYC CAUSING SOME YOUNG JEWISH MEN TO REMOVE YARMULKES
By ABC7
It may be the last place in America where young Jewish men would think twice about wearing their yarmulkes on the street, but the fear is real. “It’s better, better safe than sorry, I guess.” Brooklyn resident Sammy Weinwurzel said. Weinwurzel and his friend, Solomon Terzi, say there are times when their yarmulkes make them a potential target. Like the young man who was beaten by an angry mob in Times Square two weeks ago. “Right as I see all these stories, and listen, I don’t want to get into any trouble. So I’m just going to take it off.” Read Here

Another “Convoy for Palestine” is set to return to London on Saturday, less than a month after activists drove down Finchley Road shouting “F*** the Jews, rape their daughters.” The convoy is due to depart from Bradford and make stops in Sheffield, Leicester and London before ending outside Downing Street for a rally at 1pm. A NEW MUSEUM IN NEW ORLEANS PUTS THE FAMILY HISTORIES OF SOUTHERN JEWS ON DISPLAY
by Jonah Goldman Kay
The Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience is the product of more than three decades of concerted work to preserve the heritage of Southern Jewry. When Macy Hart started collecting artifacts from small Jewish communities in the South in 1986, it was out of necessity. As Jews in the South gravitated toward cities, these rural communities were at risk of being forgotten. As a last-ditch effort, community leaders would ask Hart to take their ritual objects and Judaica. There are also more unorthodox items in the collection, including a prosthetic leg that once belonged to a Russian Jewish immigrant who settled in Lake Providence, Louisiana.
