Anti-Israel Demonstrators at University of Michigan Call for ‘Intifada’ Against Jewish State
Anti-Israel demonstrators marching outside a speaking appearance by U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris on the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor campus this week recited numerous vitriolic antisemitic slogans, including, “Intifada, Intifada! Long live the Intifada.”
The word “intifada,” Arabic for “shaking off,” refers to two organized Palestinian terrorist campaigns, the first in the late 1980s and early 1990s and the second in the early 2000s, in which more than 1,000 Israelis, mostly civilians, were killed.
Protesting U.S. support for Israel, members of the Students Allied for Freedom and Equality (SAFE) campus group gathered near the auditorium where Harris was talking about climate change on Thursday and chanted, “Kamala, Kamala, you can’t hide, you’re committing genocide.”
They also yelled, “There is only one solution! Intifada! Revolution!” and “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” — a clear call for the destruction of the State of Israel.
