With Anti-Semitism Surging, New Educational Video Looks at History of World’s Oldest Hatred

With anti-Semitism on the rise across the US, and Jewish students being particularly affected, the Antisemitism Education Initiative at UC-Berkeley have produced a new video funded by the Academic Engagement Network (AEN) charting the history of Jew-hatred from its origins until today and tackling the hard questions about the age-old phenomenon’s different and changing manifestations. 

The video was designed to be an education tool in the fight against anti-Semitism and serve as a starting point for deeper conversations about the issue.

The Antisemitism Education Initiative at UC-Berkeley is coordinated by the Chancellor’s Committee on Jewish Life and Campus Climate, the Center for Jewish Studies, the Berkeley Institute for Jewish Law and Israel Studies, Berkeley Hillel, and the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art & Life. Their faculty and community leaders work closely with university administrators and student leaders to promote anti-Semitism awareness and education. They regularly host workshops for groups of campus staff and students, bring major speakers to campus, and have created an online module that is used as part of new student orientation.

The AEN is a independently-run non-profit organization with the mission of empowering, educating, and mobilizing faculty and staff on American university and college campuses to oppose efforts to delegitimize Israel; promote campus free expression and academic freedom; support research, education, and robust dialogue about Israel in the academy; and counter antisemitism when it occurs.
