Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) Chief Operating Officer Yigal Nisell eulogizes his friend Ofir Libstein, of blessed memory, was killed in Saturday’s coordinated terrorists attacks in southern Israel:
The people of Israel and global Jewish community are the mourning the tragic loss of a true visionary and a close friend of mine, Ofir Libstein, who was murdered outside his home in Kfar Aza on Saturday morning as he courageously defended his family and neighbors in a fierce confrontation with a group of barbaric Hamas terrorists who had invaded their kibbutz.
A 51-year-old father of four, Ofir had served as head of the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council for the past four years. His tragic and untimely passing leaves vast communal void that will be difficult to fill.
Ofir was more than just an inspiring and effective leader — he was a big-picture thinker with a unique personality who demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the welfare and security of the residents of the Gaza border area, both in life and in death.
One of Ofir’s most impactful achievements was the establishment of an industrial area near the Erez crossing, seeking to foster economic cooperation with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and promote regional stability, prosperity, and peace.
Heartfelt tributes for Ofir have been pouring in, and his loss has been felt far beyond Kfar Aza, reverberating across Israel and the Jewish Diaspora across the world.
May Ofir’s heroic dedication to the Jewish people and State of Israel serve as an example for generations to come. Ofir, my dear friend, we will always remember you and we will honor your life by continuing the work you so deeply believed in!
