The Combat Antisemitism Movement issued the following statement on Friday after the appointment of Ken Marcus to the George Mason University Board of Visitors was stricken from a Virginia Senate bill:
“The Virginia Senate committee’s baffling rejection of Ken Marcus — amid rising threats to Jewish students at GMU — is a travesty demonstrating a dangerous disregard for campus safety. By dismissing one of the premier Jewish rights defenders at this critical moment in history, with antisemitism at all-time high levels, Democratic committee members have shamefully chosen partisan politics over their fundamental duty to protect the good of the residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia.”

Partisan politics prevailed over the public good today when Democrats in Virginia’s General Assembly thwarted the appointment of @Klmarcus to serve on the @GeorgeMasonU Board of Visitors.
This shameful travesty marks a major setback in the fight against on-campus extremism. pic.twitter.com/rV72XoB8hp
