The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) issued the following statement on Sunday about ongoing events in Israel:
Israel is experiencing horror on a scale not seen since 1948. The mounting casualty toll from Saturday’s barbaric coordinated terrorist assault is unfathomable for a country of Israel’s size, equivalent to multiple 9/11s.
World leaders, international institutions, and good people of conscience everywhere must call this what it is — a brutal and murderous Iran-orchestrated pogrom targeting Jews in their free and democratic nation-state.
Violating every modern-day human rights norm, bloodthirsty Palestinian terrorists backed by the Tehran regime invaded civilian communities and went hunting for prey house-to-house, massacring hundreds of Israelis, including women, children, and the elderly, in a style reminiscent of ISIS. Moreover, dozens, if not hundreds, of survivors of the slaughter were kidnapped and taken into captivity in Gaza’s dungeons. These were clear crimes against humanity that cannot be ignored or whitewashed.
The victims included young people reveling at a nature party in the desert, children playing at home on Shabbat, worshipers praying at synagogues for Simchat Torah, and Holocaust survivors who survived the Nazis but could not evade their ideological Middle East successors eight decades later.
Israel will ultimately persevere and defeat this latest terror campaign against it, as it always has. But today lovers of liberty and justice across the globe must stand in solidarity with the Jewish state and say vocally, “I am Israeli.”
This is a collective fight against evil, and we expect all those who believe in human dignity to speak out with moral clarity now.
