‘Right to Worship Act Answers Urgent Need to Protect Houses of Prayer at Time of Rising Antisemitism’

The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) issued the following statement on Monday on the “Right to Worship Act,” a bill set to be introduced by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Rep. Brad Knott (R-NC) and Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY) that would establish 100-foot protest-free buffer zones around religious institutions:

“The Right to Worship Act answers the need for urgent national-level action to protect houses of prayer at a time of rising antisemitism across the United States. For far too long, and particularly in the aftermath of October 7th, Jews have had to endure violent threats and intimidating harassment just to enter synagogues to practice their faith and gather as a community.”

“We commend Senator Cruz, Representative Knott, and Representative Suozzi for their bipartisan leadership and cooperation, and we urge Congress to move swiftly to pass this common-sense measure into law.”
