The Antisemitism Research Center (ARC) by CAM rigorously monitors extremist content promoted online by Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) chapters at college and university campuses across North America — including glorification of terrorism and the October 7th massacre, hate speech, and incitement of violence.
As part of this initiative, the ARC recently conducted an investigation analyzing content posted by the SJP chapter at the University of Oklahoma in Norman on its Instagram account.
ARC researchers examined posts and stories created and shared by the chapter, and documented a sample of three items representing the radicalism disseminated by SJP.
Like many other chapters, OU SJP often expresses support for “resistance,” a euphemism for terrorism, which violates Meta’s Community Standards.
Posts uncovered by the ARC included:
In a story posted in its highlight reel, OU SJP shared an image of Palestinian flag being carried at an anti-Israel protest, with a caption reading, “resistance is justified,” language frequently used to legitimize violence targeting Israelis.
In a November 2023 post, OU SJP shared a slide that defended Hamas violence — once more labeled as “resistance” — as a “response to Israeli aggression.”
In a September 2024 post, OU SJP shared a post marking the first anniversary of Hamas’ October 7th massacre with the phrase “one year of resistance.”
