Authorities in Florida arrested a Boca Raton man on Thursday after he allegedly left a voicemail threatening the life of U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz, a Democrat who says his fight against antisemitism now requires security wherever he goes.
Around 2:30 p.m., Moskowitz disclosed the news on X, saying the suspect was in the Palm Beach County jail and thanking law enforcement for responding swiftly.
A constituent of mine has just been arrested in Boca, just a few miles from my house, for threatening my life. He is currently in the Palm Beach County jail. I’m grateful to @fdlepio and local law enforcement for acting quickly to keep myself and my family safe.

Describing the call to the Sun Sentinel, Moskowitz said “a gentleman left a message on our voicemail threatening me, saying he wanted to slit my throat.”
The voicemail was left Thursday at Moskowitz’s congressional office on Sample Road. According to the congressman, authorities traced the call after he handed the recording over to law enforcement.
On Tuesday night, Moskowitz faced Republican challenger Scott Singer, a former Boca Raton mayor, at a synagogue debate marked by heightened security. Both candidates are Jewish and are competing for the newly-redrawn 25th Congressional District seat. The discussion included questions about their efforts to combat antisemitism and how they intend to address it going forward.
Moskowitz said, “You don’t have to listen to me on what I’ve done fighting antisemitism, standing up for Israel. Listen to the antisemites who are trying to kill me, right? My wife is here. We have police outside our house 24 hours a day now.”
In 2024, police responding to a call at the Margate home of John Lapinski Jr. discovered a list naming Moskowitz, synagogues and Jewish businesses. Officers also found six firearms and a substantial quantity of ammunition at the property. Lapinski was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison in August 2025.
