A London bus driver allegedly harassed and trapped a Jewish passenger in a shocking antisemitic incident that has drawn widespread outrage.
The victim, who identified himself only as David, said the driver hurled antisemitic insults, kept his debit card, and refused to let him leave.
David, who is in the final stages of converting to Judaism, was wearing visibly Orthodox Jewish clothing when the attack occurred.
“He Refused Because I Was Jewish”
David explained that the confrontation began when he tried to pay his fare. The driver shouted an antisemitic remark, startling him and causing him to drop his debit card. The card slipped through a gap near the driver’s cabin — an area passengers cannot reach but the driver could access.
When David asked for it back, the driver allegedly refused, saying he would not return it “because you’re Jewish.” In video footage posted online, David pleads for his card as the driver ignores him. Other passengers eventually left, leaving him alone and locked inside the bus.
Throughout the ordeal, the driver continued to show open hostility toward Jews. When David pointed out that they were both black, the driver allegedly accused him of being a Mossad agent and again refused to return the card.
Police Arrive and Driver Unlocks the Bus
David called a friend, who contacted police. When officers arrived, the driver finally returned the debit card and unlocked the doors.
A Jewish lawyer has offered to help David file a legal complaint against the bus company. The lawyer himself recently faced antisemitic vandalism when mezuzahs were ripped from his home.
The incident reflects a dangerous normalization of antisemitism in London, where open hatred of Jews now unfolds in plain sight and too often without consequence.
