Protesters shouting “We don’t want Zionists in our country!” confronted Israeli-Turkish social media personality Kloyda Medina Halfon on Sunday as she shopped at Istinye Park Mall in Istanbul, according to footage circulating online.

One person yells, “There is a terrorist in Istanbul!” Another calls her a “child killer.”

Extremist Islamist groups have targeted Halfon before. The footage shows Halfon struggling to escape the crowd as protesters waved Turkish and Palestinian flags.

Security personnel intervened and escorted her out. A voice on the recording celebrated her removal and urged others to share the “success” online.

A group called 7 Ekim Hareketi, meaning “October 7 Movement” in Turkish, accused Halfon of arranging medical treatment and accommodation for IDF soldiers under the guise of health tourism. It further alleged that she arranged cosmetic surgery to alter the soldiers’ appearance and facilitated the transport of luxury and cosmetic products from Turkey to Israel through suitcase trading in violation of trade restrictions.

“The lands of Turkey will not be a ‘safe zone’ where bloodstained Zionist killers vacation and hide with plastic surgery!” the group declared in a social media statement.

On Friday, it announced that it had filed a criminal complaint against her with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

In a Monday post on X, the Israeli Foreign Ministry condemned the incident as “disgraceful and unacceptable.”

“When a government gives terrorists a safe haven, it should come as no surprise when their hatred is echoed on its streets,” it added.

In a separate video, Halfon said she was born and raised in Istanbul, where her family and a large Jewish community live. She said she speaks Hebrew in public but must be careful about where she does so.

“I have encountered instances of antisemitism,” she said. “There were places where we were told, ‘You’re Israelis, so we won’t serve you.’ It has happened; don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”
