A special philanthropy gala, marking the fifth night of Hanukkah, was held in Tel Aviv on Sunday to honor the dozens of Israeli organizations and projects supported by the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) in the aftermath of the October 7th massacre.
More than 60 guests attended the event at Hayaama, overlooking the Jaffa Port, including representatives of SafeHeart, Ethiopian Women Empowerment, Simcha Layeled, Aluma-Ofakim Resilience Center, Restart Global, Terra Uma, Atlas Hotels, Clear Giving, Alon & Ella, and Brothers for Life.
At the gala, construction contractor Nissim Huri was recognized for his work rebuilding dozens of homes and public buildings in the southern Israeli city of Ofakim, where invading Hamas terrorists left a devastating path of of destruction on October 7th.
Prominent guests included: Florida State Senator Randy Fine; Charge D’Affaires at the Embassy of Singapore in Israel Adele Li; President of the Israeli Judo Association Moshe Ponte; and Miriam and Itzik Nofech-Mozes.
CAM Chief Program Officer Hadas Bar-Erez said, “Tonight we are gathering amid the ongoing ‘Iron Swords’ war and the holiday of Hanukkah to celebrate the same thing — the victory of the light over darkness. The organizations and initiatives we are honoring are a modern-day embodiment of the spirit of the Maccabees — who during the hardest of times, when darkness seemed to be taking over, sparked a miracle and brought a huge light.”
Immediately following October 7th, CAM established the Israeli Emergency Support Fund, which raised more than $1.7 million to directly assist response and recovery activities. With additional contributions from benefactors outside the fund’s framework, CAM has been able to gather and donate a total of nearly $4 million to more than 60 entities and individuals, meeting the needs of hundreds of thousands of Israelis who were impacted by the attack.
Earlier this year, four CAM-backed volunteer organizations were recognized by Israeli President Isaac Herzog for their efforts.
