From Toronto to Greece: This Week in the Global Effort to Stop Jew-Hatred

From billboards calling out antisemitism appearing in Toronto, Canada, to educational efforts in Greece involving Greek Orthodox Christian leaders and school teachers, this week has demonstrated the global scope of the collective effort to combat Jew-hatred.

By speaking out and taking action, activists and organizations worldwide are defending the Jewish people and State of Israel on a daily basis.

Upcoming Events

CAMERA — The Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting is offering three upcoming opportunities to join an educational webinar on how to respond to antisemitic rhetoric in social and professional situations, featuring CAMERA Communications Director Dr. Jonah Cohen, who will provide participants with the tools needed to effectively make their points heard during charged exchanges.

Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation (CAEF) — Featuring special guest Hen Mazzig, CAEF will host a conversation on Wednesday, February 23rd, at 2 PM EST, on how the young generation of today can combat antisemitism on social media.

Campaigns to Support

StandWithUs — The United Nations Human Rights Council’s “Commission of Inquiry” singling out Israel is just its latest attempt to harm the Jewish people and state. Make your voice heard by signing a petition exposing the UNHRC for its biased and dangerous agenda.

World Jewish Restitution Organization (WJRO) — Individuals around the world are encouraged to join the #MyPropertyStory campaign share their family’s experiences during the Holocaust to promote the restitution of Jewish property from the World War II era. Hillel International — With two weeks left before the deadline, high school seniors and current college students are encouraged to apply for the Handeli First-Year Student Scholarship and the Hillel Campus Leadership Award, respectively.

Israel on Campus Coalition (ICC) — For the first time on an American college campus, a motion has been filed at the University of Texas at Austin to condemn the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism, which was adopted unanimously by the student government last year.

JewBelong and StandWithUs — To draw attention to rising antisemitism in North America, JewBelong and StandWithUs have expanded their eye-catching billboard campaign to Canada, with the US cities of New York, Boston, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Orlando already seeing the bright pink ads in public spaces.

European Coalition for Israel — A year and a half after the signing of the Abraham Accords, the ECI posted a video discussion on their potential to transform the future of the Middle East.

Partner Achievements

Alums for Campus Fairness — Citing an ACF poll, a bipartisan group of 39 U.S. Congress members — led by Representative Ted Lieu (CA-33) — wrote a letter to the Department of Education earlier this month urging it to step up action against rising antisemitism on American college campuses.
