In the aftermath of the atrocities committed against Israelis on October 7th, a troubling pattern has emerged in the international human rights community.
Major human rights organizations have largely failed to condemn the gross human rights violations perpetrated by Hamas against innocent Israeli men, women, and children.
Not only that, some have also engaged in a sustained campaign to delegitimize the State of Israel and its defensive military operation in the Gaza Strip, accusing it of committing “genocide.” In doing so, they have continued their abuse of international legal definitions and frameworks to validate anti-Israel bias.
The demonization of Israel, using a distorted misrepresentations of international law, while the crimes of Hamas are rationalized and validated, requires a forceful rebuke.
In a one-hour briefing organized by the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) and NGO Monitor on Tuesday, the following speakers shared their personal stories and offered insights on the glaring anti-Israel prejudice of the global human rights community — Olga Deutsch, NGO Monitor Vice President; Galit Lapidot Goren, aunt of Tiferet Lapidot, who was murdered at the Nova music festival; Alon Marek, survivor of the Nova music festival; Pnina Sharvit-Baruch, an attorney and former head of the IDF’s Department of International Law; Emily Schrader, journalist and pro-Israel activist; Dr. Saralyn Mark, physician and founder/president of iGIANT; and Danielle Haas, former senior editor at Human Rights Watch.
The briefing was moderated by CAM Board of Governors member Sima Vaknin Gill, retired IDF brigadier general.
