The CAM Antisemitism Research Center collects comprehensive antisemitism data from around the world on a constant basis, and publishes a regular feature on the top ten antisemitic incidents that shook Jewish communities globally during the preceding month.

The ten most shocking antisemitic incidents of June 2024 are as follows:

Anti-Israel Protesters Beat, Bear Mace Jews, Journalists at Los Angeles Synagogue

An anti-Israel protest outside Adas Torah synagogue in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood of Los Angeles, California, on June 23 devolved into brawls, the spraying of counter-protesters and journalists with bear mace, vandalism of Jewish institutions, and the blockage of shul entryways. The demonstration was organized by Palestinian Youth Movement LA and Code Pink LA.

Combat Antisemitism Movement CEO Sacha Roytman stated, “The violent demonstration at a Los Angeles synagogue, coming on the same day as shooting attack outside a synagogue in Russia, and following other recent shocking events in France and elsewhere across the globe, marked a further increase in the already unprecedented levels of antisemitism Jewish communities worldwide are coping with. This is an important reminder of the reason why we must come together and fight on a daily basis against all who perpetrate, support, or justify acts of terrorism and violence against Jews. We expect authorities at the national, state, and municipal levels to protect their Jewish constituents and not leave them to face these antisemitic threats alone.”

‘Escalate for Palestine’: Belgian Holocaust Memorial Defaced

A memorial in Brussels, Belgium, dedicated to righteous gentiles during the Holocaust was defaced with antisemitic messages on June 21, the European Jewish Congress said. “Escalate for Palestine, everyone,” the graffiti on the Monument to the Righteous of Belgium read. Three French boys were arrested for the gang rape of a 12-year-old Jewish girl in Paris in a sickening June 15 antisemitic attack, police said. During Shavuot, the children’s father was pushing his children in a carriage near the Lubavitch House when the masked suspect approached and tried to wrestle the carriage away. Anti-Israel protesters of the group Within Our Lifetime occupied the space outside of New York City’s Nova music festival exhibit on June 10. Montreal Jewish School Hit by Gunfire in Second Such Attack in Canada Within Days

Montreal Police discovered gunfire at an Orthodox Jewish school, the second such attack on a Jewish school in Canada within days. At least one bullet hit the Belz Yeshiva Ketana at the Young Israel of Montreal synagogue in the city’s Cote-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grace neighborhood. Thankfully, no one was harmed, but Canadian Jewish leaders expressed their concerns. “We have had enough. He said, “There is a list of 30 suspects here. Forgive me, I’m not antisemitic, but more than half of the accused are Jewish….Have they [the Jews] assumed a special privileged status?
